The Knights of Columbus Invite You to Join Us...
Do you know about the Knights of Columbus? You have probably seen the local Knights of Columbus honour guards for the Bishop, parades, funerals, and special church ceremonies. Where do the Knights of Columbus come from? What do they stand for? What are they all about? The knights stand for an abundance of good things. Knights of Columbus Programs and projects are parish, community, provincial, world wide in scope.
Our council 11524, includes Blessed Sacrament Parish, Amherstview, St. Bartholomew, Amherst Island, and St. Linus Parish, Bath. We invite you to join our organization. If you would like to join or gain more in depth information about us, please feel free to call our Grand Knight, Membership Director, any other member of the Executive, or any knight that you are acquainted with at any of the above churches. If you would like to meet many of our Knights to gain some insight into our local council, come to one of our activities listed below. Father Alanen will gladly tell you about our organization and direct you to the right member to gain further information.
Each member receives part of his dues, a rosary, Ontario State Bulletin, Supreme Magazine "Columbian", and a small accidental death group life insurance membership (after one year of service).
Each member has access to the voluntary the Knights of Columbus Insurance Program and Financial Services. This company, owned and operated by the Knights of Columbus is one if the highest rated insurance companies in North America.
Council Activities
- Participate in many Church ministries
- Provide a ride to Church on request
- Sell Car Raffle Tickets at malls. stores, and other functions (proceeds to Arthritis Society and other provincial and local charities)
- After Mass Breakfasts
- Men's Breakfast at Briargate Retirement Residence (every other Wednesday morning)
- Lead and participate in the Partners in Mission Food Bank Blitz in May
- Annual Garage and Bake (CWL) Sale
- Assist at CWL functions as requested
- Provide and maintain outside flower gardens
- Basketball Free Throw competition
- Substance Abuse Poster Contest
- Annual summer picnic
- Oktoberfest Dinner Dance
- Set up and Maintain outside nativity scene (Order-wide Keep Christ in Christmas theme)
- Children's Christmas party
- Wives appreciation evening held first Tuesday in December
- 4th Degree Honour Guards on priest's request
