Blog #3: Midnight Mass

April 15, 2020

With social distancing instituted I have to celebrate private Masses. A private Mass is so different because it is just me and God. So, I decided my Easter Mass should be unique. I remembered that when I first went to St. Augustine’s Seminary our Easter Mass was at midnight – so, my private Easter Mass was at midnight. I blessed the Easter candle and holy water too...I was naive because a month ago when we were introduced to social distancing and “stay home, stay safe” I thought that by Easter we would be back to our old routines. Now we are at the point where we need an attitude adjustment to make the most of learning new ways to isolate, to get groceries, to go to the bank, looks like this is the way it is going to be for another month or two or longer. The attitude adjustment is to decide we are not going to complain, but adjust so we can appreciate that what we are doing now is like an investment that pays off later!!!
